Western Perspectives on WNS

Little Brown Bat with WNSSince it was first identified in 2006, White Nose Syndrome (WNS) has had a devastating impact on bats in the eastern United States. Mortality rates in some hibernacula have approached 100%. The response and planning for the expected arrival of WNS in the western United States has been uneven and often controversial. This session seeks contributed presentations from cavers, land managers, and biologists on the issue of WNS in western states for the purpose of improving communication and understanding. A panel discussion is planned for the end of the session.
