Important update: Please arrive at the cave early for the Howdy Party! NSS Convention attendees are able to visit the cave and its attractions as early as 2:00 pm. Dinner is served at 5:00. Because of the large Convention turnout and long transport times, early attendance is necessary to make sure we all can get to the cave before dinner ends at 8:00. Please bring a photo ID in addition to your Convention Badge to comply with CO liquor laws. Also, wine will be available for purchase (the Beer is FREE).

The Howdy Party will be held at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park on top of Iron Mountain with wonderful views of Glenwood Canyon and Mount Sopris. Head up early to experience all the cavern attractions, including the canyon swing, laser tag, and the first U.S. Alpine Coaster! In addition, the cave will be open with cavern guides and local geologists available to answer questions. Special thanks to Glenwood Caverns for hosting what will be an amazing Howdy Party!
The tram will take you straight up the side of the mountain or, alternatively, you can take an exciting trip up the winding dirt road in one of our convention buses. There is no parking on top of IronMountain.
The Howdy Party dinner will consist of a fajita bar (no worries, vegetarians, you’re covered too) and plenty of beer (courtesy of Glenwood Canyon Brewing) and non-alcoholic beverages.
Remember the 1996 Howdy Party? Well– Chris Daniels and the Kings will play into the night for all the dancers out there! “… one of the few acts with enough brass in its gorgonzolas to hit the road as a full-fledged horn band.” – according to BILLBOARD.
Special thanks to the Hotel Glenwood Springs who donated 4 rooms for the band as sponsors for the Howdy Party!
Be ready to kick up your heels and have a great time!
Handicap Access: The Glenwood Caverns tram is handicap accessible, as are some of the school buses that will be used to shuttle participants to and from the Howdy Party. Please contact the convention staff directly if you have specific concerns or questions.
