Campground
Update: Aerial photos of Glenwood with the convention sites and a close up aerial photo of the camping locations
The 2011 Convention campground borders the Roaring Fork River, just a couple of minutes walk from the school grounds where workshops and sessions will be held. This area is in the middle of town, so all shopping and attractions are within an easy walk of your tent.
The area is grassy but you will need to provide your own shade. Tent sizes are limited to 200 sq ft. with sides and 400 sq ft. without sides so plan appropriately. We will have a few communal fire pits available, but fire bans are common during that time of year and could be in effect.
Cavers will be able to drive onto the campground during setup Saturday and Sunday, and drop their gear off. Please leave your car in either the school or long-term parking areas (no neighborhood parking please).
On Friday afternoon and Saturday at the end of convention, traffic is allowed in for striking camp and packing up your gear.
Everything you will need is within walking distance, a short bike or a free city bus ride. The convention will provide shuttles to the Howdy Party and Banquet. Plan to park your car for the week. We’re focused on a environmentally friendly Convention (we’ll even have a few loaner bikes) and we’ll save your gas $ too!
Other camping and quiet (except Wednesday night during the Campground Party) camping will be on the school grounds. Overflow and very quiet camping may be provided on the Glenwood Springs Grade School and Park grounds, a few blocks away. The hot tub and saunas, (you didn’t think Colorado would forget that did you?) will be next to the River. Showers will be provided in the campground and also at the high school.
No generators in the campground area.
Pickup Camping / Trucks with Toppers
Tent campers and pickups with shells for camping are welcome on a separate area of the campground, on a first come-first served basis, however space is limited. NO in and out, but if a caver wants to leave the vehicle for the week on that part of the campground that’s fine.
We also have an auxiliary lot with space for about 100 vehicles, a couple of blocks south of the school, in an isolated part of the Safeway parking lot, with direct access to the Rails-to-Trails bike and hiking path that runs between the school and campground. The south end of the campground is only a few hundred feet north of that parking lot.
Full Size RV Space and Offsite Camping
Glenwood Springs Recreation Center will have RV parking space near the South end of their upper parking lot. The rec center is located just west of the Ice Hockey Rink. There is a free city bus stop a half block from the parking area. No Hookups Available

The bike path runs by the site and connects to the bike path that runs to the campground and school. WIFI available. Rock Springs Rafting is also located nearby.
