Maps / Directions / Transportation

Scenic Glenwood Springs resides along Interstate 70, and is 158 miles west of Denver and 79 miles east of Grand Junction, Colorado. Driving west from Denver, I-70 leaves the Great Plains as it climbs the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.   The drive takes you through the world’s highest vehicular tunnel at 11,155 feet.  Here, I-70 passes under the continental divide through the 1.7 mile long Eisenhower Tunnel. The final link of I-70 was completed in 1992 at a cost of $490 million. This 12.5 mile stretch follows the Colorado River through the spectacular Glenwood Canyon and includes 40 bridges and viaducts, and 3 tunnels. The city of Glenwood Springs appears immediately after exiting the canyon.

Denver International is the nearest hub airport serving 23 airlines and is approximately 4 hour drive down I-70.  Rental cars are available or alternatively there is shuttle service provided by Colorado Mountain Express.

Train

The Amtrak California Zephyr has scheduled rail service with a stop in Glenwood Springs on a daily train in each direction. From Denver, the rail line passes through 30 tunnels as it climbs to 9,100 feet. It then crosses under the continental divide through the 6.2 mile long Moffat Tunnel. On the west side of the continental divide, the rail line follows the Colorado River from its headwaters to Grand Junction, on its way to Salt Lake City and beyond.

The convention staff can arrange to pick up those arriving locally by train, bus, or private plane.

An informal pre-convention ride is in the works.
